 Convict Me . . . Please!

Filed under: Thought of the Day — lee @ Jun 29th, 2009

We make choices every day. Some are good, some are not so good, and some are big mistakes. Oh well, we are all human and hindsight is 20/20. How many life decisions would you like to change now that you have lived and learned? For me, there have been a few.
Take high school for example – Let’s just say that my kids had a very different experience.

So I have been around now for several decades and I find that there is a great tool for minimizing those “big mistake” decisions and the little ones too. Ok, so I’m not a super fast learner of life lessons, but I’m finally “getting some of it” and I would like to share my findings with you. I hope that it will help you minimize your mistakes too. After all, what could be better than learning from someone else’s stupid mistakes?

Ok, this is where the conviction part comes in. I’m not talking about convictions by a jury of my peers, but rather, a self imposed conviction of the heart. You know that little voice some call conscience? Yea, the one that says “what are you thinking?” just before you stick both feet in your mouth at once or do something that you will surely regret. The same little convicting voice that is so easy to ignore. That’s the one I’m writing about. My request is that my little conscience voice be screaming loud and have a big hammer so the next time I’m about to ignore it, I’ll get some physical pain before I make a bigger mistake. Unfortunately, it is unlikely that my “pre-stupidity filter” will ever be any more than a small, still voice or a feeling, so I have decided to pay closer attention to it. I think of it as paying attention to God who gives us free will to make mistakes, but who also speaks to us with just enough volume to let us know that our actions have consequences.

This disaster avoidance technique only requires that we pay attention and use our hearts to help with decision making instead of allowing our mindless action/reaction system to make decisions for us.

Since many people fall short of life dreams, maybe an improved decision making process including more conviction from the heart could help. It has been said that we are where we are in life as a result of all our decisions. Perhaps better decisions will result in more life goals achieved.

Live, Love, Laugh, Learn, and change the world.

 Summer Solstice

Filed under: Thought of the Day — lee @ Jun 22nd, 2009

We have reached the summer solstice here in the northern hemisphere. This marks the longest day and shortest night of the year. The days will now get shorter until the winter solstice in December. For me, this is a reminder to use my time wisely. I have more daylight in which to get outside work done and I can get out of bed early to see the sunrise. Summer mornings are beautiful and I feel that I’m getting a little “jump” on the events of the day when I’m up early.

If you’re just not a “morning person”, you might try an early day during this time of year just to experience the beauty of early morning dew, the sunrise, and the sounds of life in nature. It’s good for your soul.

Since the southern hemisphere is just the opposite regarding the solstice, I have good news for you. Your days are now getting longer!

 Please Help if You Can

Here at LifeSuccess.com a few people have been working to bring meaningful information to anyone interested in finding life success as we understand it. We are learning just how difficult life has become for so many people and we want to bring our service to a completely new level. We intend to upgrade everything about LifeSuccess.com including the overall site look, the content, the interactivity, the ease of use, and then we want to offer more to those who are really struggling through this difficult time.
The truth is that we are struggling right now too. People tend to get caught up in their own challenges and turn inward for solutions instead of reaching out to others for help. When people don’t ask us for help, we can’t help! Sometimes they turn inward until it is too late to solve many of their problems. We understand and while every person’s individual situation is different, we have all been in tough spots.

Today, we are asking for help from anyone who has a heart to help others. We only want you to help in those areas in which you feel empowered and compelled to participate - for example:
If you are a writer, we want to feature your thoughtful writings.
If you are an artist or musician, we want to share your visions of beauty.
If you are a teacher or counselor, we want people to know how to find you.
If you are willing to be a mentor, we want to help you find people in need of guidance.
If you are talented with Web development, we want you to help us with our expansion.
If you are wealthy, we want you to invest in us so we can invest in others.
If you have other talents that are consistent with the LifeSuccess focus, we want to talk with you.

If any of these items speak to your heart, we urge you to CONTACT US for further discussion.

Blessings and best wishes,

Lee
