 New “Communities”

Filed under: Thought of the Day — lee @ Feb 26th, 2009

Back in the mid-90’s when the Web was new and we still used a telephone as a singular use device, I was involved in the cutting edge business of providing dial-up and wireless Internet service to people in a generally under-served area outside of Chicago. Back then, the Web was providing ways to give and receive information and you all know how that evolved. What is amazing to me is how the Internet has become a tool to connect with other people regardless of geographic location and now requires us to re-think or at least expand the definition of community. I originally started LifeSuccess.com as an infomediary site with the hopes of distributing information about life and success but in the past month I see that the technology is again surging past my idea and into the development of virtual communities complete with voice, video, transcription, and just about any other form of connection except direct physical contact. Physical meetings are organized and held with a combination of physical presence and virtual attendance and last night I attended a prayer meeting where people were both in attendance and connected online. The only disappointing part of the experience for me was that I couldn’t give anyone a hug at the end. With the help of technologies like Facebook, Twitter, and many others, I believe that people will be able to quickly gather a group of like-minded people (and seekers) and organize whatever it is that they want. I am connected to people who value personal development with the important power that comes with faith in Christ. My current focus will move the LifeSuccess.com site into the connection of these ideals. I believe that people should continually learn and improve as people with the understanding that our eternal lives are much more important and impacting - today and forever. If you want to help, let me know!

Peace,

Lee

Notable Quote on Who We Are

Filed under: Thought of the Day — lee @ Feb 19th, 2009

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.” Martin Luther King Jr.

Well folks, for many of us, we are experiencing a time of challenge and controversy. What we do now will highlight our true character. Work hard, ask for help if you need it, and keep your moral compass close at hand.

 Hang in there

Most of us will remember this period in history as one very difficult in which to raise a family; difficult to keep a job; difficult to manage our money; and difficult to be calm as the worst offenders walk away with pockets full. Let’s remember that success in life includes making the best of every situation even if we are blindsided by thoughtless and greedy people. For me, it is faith in Jesus that helps me through the most difficult times. It’s not that I deserve grace or that I earned some points that can be redeemed for peace in times of trouble, but rather it is simply the grace of God that carries me through these times. To be clear, I have no intention of sitting back and watching everything that I worked so hard for simply dissolve away. I will do everything possible to avoid the worst, but if things happen that are beyond my control, I believe that I have the strength of character to learn, adjust, and rebuild with a joyful and forgiving heart. My attitude is my choice and I choose to be thankful and optimistic that our future is bright.

I wish you peace,

Lee

 Humility

Successful people display humility in their personal and professional lives. They realize that they are a part of a larger community and they feel fortunate to contribute as they develop their gifts. Humble people bring those around them up to a new level without the need for constant praise. Their reward is the success of others and the satisfaction of contributing to a greater good. Show some humility on your road to success

 Virtue - Thoughtfulness

Filed under: Thought of the Day — lee @ Feb 9th, 2009

Most people don’t think. Some successful people think from time to time. Rarely do you find a person who thinks for any length of time every day. In our fast paced modern world of deadlines and commitments, we just don’t seem to have the time to really think about our motives and plan our activities accordingly. We get stuck on “autopilot” and do the same things over and over with little real inventiveness and passion. The next time you catch yourself doing the same old routine, stop for a moment and think about how you could improve your effectiveness or increase the satisfaction that you get from a job not just done, but well done. When you see a person who really thinks about life success, you will see a person doing extraordinary things.

 Be Wary of Online Deals

Filed under: Thought of the Day — lee @ Feb 3rd, 2009

I have heard from several people about online “money making opportunities” recently. Many of the folks looking at these programs are truly concerned about their futures and possibly struggling with job losses or overwhelming debt. My advice to anyone considering these programs is to first think logically. Our world is in tough economic times right now. If there is an online program that suggests that you can “automatically” make thousands of dollars every week, where is the money coming from? If the entire middle class is on edge financially and emotionally, then they are probably not the best target market from an ethical business viewpoint. The reality for most “get rich quick” programs is that the money comes from those who can least afford it; People who are reaching for anything to pull them from the pits. With all that said, if anyone can show me an honest program for making money online “automatically” that does not exploit people and that provides a truly valuable product or service, I will be happy to pass the information on to my readers. I won’t hold my breath on this one. For me, I’ll continue to pray for God’s guidance, work hard at what I know, be open minded for new opportunities, and attempt to help people whenever I have the opportunity.

Regards,

Lee
