So much to do today. NSP, accountant, deposits, clinic taxes, LNI, fix clinic computer (virus), YMCA board stuff, BMT stuff, and lets see, can I pile any more stuff on the pile? Sure I can! I need some prayer time, family time, exercise, and some reading time. Oh, how about leaving the whole pile for God, concentrating on what I CAN do today starting with prayer time, and letting the rest go for the moment. Sounds good to me. In fact, it’s the only thing that works at all. With so many responsibilities and only 24 hours in a day, something has to give. My recent message titled “I Can’t Do It All” is a good reminder for me today. I’ll work hard starting with the most important items first and go as far as I can. When I get to the end of the day, I’ll take a deep breath and write my list for tomorrow. Somehow, I’m sure there will be plenty to do.
Best wishes for a productive day today,
Lee
The 44th U.S. President, Barack Obama, was inaugurated today. For some folks it marks an important new beginning and I hope that the world will respond positively to this new administration. Only time will tell just how things might change but I’m hopeful that we can work toward healing the people of the world and the world itself. If you have the opportunity to help in any way, please do so. At this point, it is not so much about politics as it is about being responsible citizens of this fragile planet. I wish the Obama administration wisdom and peace as they undertake a very difficult task and if they ask me for my opinions, I’ll be sure to respond.
Life just doesn’t seem to slow down regardless of our current capacity to keep up. So, rather than feel frustrated, angry, or worse, I have decided to delegate. I believe that this is the best way to handle the overload situation. Here’s my delegation of responsibilities:
God, I release all the things that are beyond my control to you. I agree to work hard, pay attention, and to ask you for guidance in everything I do. I will do all the things that I know I should do and only delegate those which are clearly beyond my control. I trust that you will help me and at the end of the day, we can look at our progress. I thank you for first releasing me from any anxiety about the work ahead and look forward to a great and productive day.

— Owen Arthur: Prime minister of Barbados
Please take this to heart while you can. Our health is easily overlooked in our busy day with poor food choices easily available and time for exercise in short supply.
Do you pay attention to the “food” that you eat? This month, I started keeping a food journal and in just a few days I realized why I’m not at my optimal weight yet. In this land of excess, it is just too easy to use food as a cure-all to our emotional distress. From stress reduction to anger management, we all too often look to food for the cure. Try writing down in a journal or notepad all the things you eat and you might be surprised. I will let you know the results of my adventure at the end of the month. I’m guessing that I’ll be happier, more fit, and a little lighter.
I have officially adopted the “Change or Die” theme in my life for the next thirty days. I hope to extend the practice long afterward, but for now, it is a test of my ability to make real change. I’m looking forward to reporting my efforts in this blog. If you missed the article in “Fast Company” magazine, you can Click Here to read the article.
We are now into the new year and hopefully some things in your life are feeling new and positive. The most difficult change to your life is change itself and I recently came across an article that described this difficulty in change very well.
